Work has started again on the Eighth Street paving and barring
inclement weather, the concrete work should be complete by
the morning of November 3, with asphalt topping and striping
to take place later that week. The contractor will then concentrate
on the remaining area of the parking lot paving. A portion
of the south driveway on Eighth Street was recently poured.
The north wall of the east wing has now been set and the south
wall precast has been started. Most of the first level steel
for the east wing has been set. The majority of the roof deck
is in place on the center wing, except for one section that
has been left open for an air handling unit which will be
delivered around Thanksgiving. In the center section, the
slab for the dining area and the gym have been poured. The
media center slab is scheduled to be poured next week. The
mason has been laying walls in the east wing and will move
to the center wing next week. Steel for the west wing is scheduled
to arrive soon, and erection of that steel and precast will
commence at that time.
Through October 23
Most of the steel and precast for the center portion of the
building has been completed. Some roof deck has also been
placed. It was necessary to leave a couple of panels out of
the gym to allow access for equipment necessary to pour the
floor in that area. Precast and steel erection is now being
completed on the east wing and steel is scheduled to start
arriving next week for the west wing. Grading for the center
wing slab is complete and the balance of the west wing slab
has now been poured. Interior masonry is underway at various
spots in the building. The south portion of the parking lot,
as well as the Eighth Street widening have been graded and
it is expected that the paving of this area will commence
next week. The floor for the mechanical room has been poured.
The installation of the in-floor radiant heat pipes for the
center wing will start next week.
Erection of the precast and steel for the center portion of
the building continues. The steel for the east wing has started
to arrive and an additional crane has been brought on site
to hasten the steel setting process. The erectors are planning
to work this Saturday and a second crew for the erection of
steel and precast is due on site Monday, October 20. Steel
for the west wing is scheduled to be on site later this month.
The south portion of the parking lot has been graded and the
concrete should be placed the same time as that for the Eighth
Street widening, which is now scheduled late this month. The
in-floor radiant heat pipes for the last portion of the west
wing have been placed and that section of floor slab is scheduled
to be poured early next week. Interior masonry is scheduled
to resume next week and it is expected that the roof deck
work will start on the center wing early next week.
The precast and steel are being erected in the center portion
of the building. While all of the joists for the entire job
are on site, the balance of the steel needed for the east
and west wing is delayed. The contractor is ready to add additional
manpower to the site to erect precast, but having the steel
on site is needed to proceed. Much of the grading for the
south portion of the parking lot has been completed and it
is expected that most of the parking lot in that area will
be poured the week of October 13. Additionally, the Eighth
Street widening, which has now been approved and priced, is
anticipated in mid-October. Some of the interior block walls
for the west wing and in the center wing have been completed.
Work continues on the in-floor radiant heat pipes in the last
portion of the west wing. The approaches from the street along
with the curb work for Walnut Creek have been completed and
that lot has been striped.
The majority of the west wing floor slab has been poured.
Pre-cast continues to be set in the center portion of the
building. The steel for that section of the building is now
on site and the steel for the east wing expected the week
of Oct. 6, which will allow a double crew for the erection
of pre-cast. The job trailer has been moved to a different
location, which allowed the grading of the south portion of
the parking lot. The approaches for the Walnut Creek Campus
parking lot are scheduled for Oct. 3 and the items related
to the Walnut Creek parking lot (curb, striping, lighting,
etc.) are scheduled to be complete the week of Oct. 6. The
Eighth Street widening has now been approved and priced and
that work should begin in mid-October. One of the interior
block walls for the west wing has now been completed and work
continues on the in-floor radiant heat pipes as they move
closer to the center wing.
