Paved approaches to Eighth Street are being poured today. Striping
on Eighth Street is scheduled for tomorrow. Most of the
precast for the north side of the west wing has been placed,
with only the southern side of that wing remaining to be installed. The
majority of the steel has also been placed in the west wing,
with approximately half of the wing’s roof joists in
place. The metal stud work necessary to enclose the masonry
portion (of the openings in precast) will follow the precast
installation and is underway on the north side of the east
wing. Studs, along with the backing board for the masonry,
have been installed in most areas of the west wing. Radiant
floor heating is installed in approximately one-half of the
second floor of the east wing and the concrete will be poured
either late this week or early next week.
Air-handling units have arrived on site
and are being set today. This will allow the completion of
the roof deck over the center wing, with the roofer scheduled
to start on that area the week of November 24. The roofer
will then move to the west wing and then proceed to the east
wing. Interior load-bearing masonry walls are still under
construction, with work this week continuing in the mechanical
area and on the elevator shaft. Significant amounts of
electrical conduit have been placed in the center wing. While
it was expected that the balance of the parking lot would
be paved this week, it was not completed and that work is
on a day-to-day basis – dependent upon the weather.
Paving on Eighth Street is complete and the curb backfill
is underway. Grading which will allow placement of the last
street approach and the balance of parking has begun. Precast
is near completion on the center and east wings and steel
erection has started on the west wing. Second floor steel
is partially complete on the east wing. Most of the first
floor slabs have now been completed with the exception of
small infill areas. The mason continues to work on interior
walls and is currently working in the mechanical area. Most
of the second floor deck for the east wing has been placed
and some of the roof support steel has also been placed. Installation
of in-floor radiant tubing for the second floor has started.
Work on the east wing roof deck will start soon and roofing
on the center wing is scheduled for the end of November. Most
of the roof deck is in place over the center wing. Electrical
conduit is being placed in the center wing. Exterior wall
studs are installed in the center and east wings. Roof deck
is also in place over the office area.
