Most site landscaping is in place with the exception
of a few trees that need to go in the parking lot areas. Seeding
of the area north of Walnut Creek is still underway and sod will
be laid around the building late next week. The west wing is virtually
complete with a punch list being created for minor items that need
to be tweaked. In the center wing, carpet and millwork have been
installed in the Administrative area and carpeting is scheduled
to be laid in the Media Center yet this week. Installation of translucent
panels around the Reading Room is now underway. Vinyl tile flooring
in the entryway is scheduled to be done next week. The dining room
floor has been placed, cleaned, punched, and protected and now chairs
for the classrooms are being stored in that area. The tile on the
east wall of the kitchen has been installed and the final pieces
of kitchen equipment are being set. The gym is painted and the floor
is scheduled to be poured on August 9. The art room is being used
as a storage area for wall shelving. The shelving is now being installed
in the west wing. In the east wing, all the carpet is laid, however,
not all decorative inserts have not been installed. Most sliding
glass doors and overhead doors are in place. There are still some
small pieces of millwork to place. The ceiling tiles have been dropped
and finish painting is underway. The elevator is complete and ready
for inspection on August 2. The east wing is scheduled for the start
of punch list on August 3. The center wing punch is scheduled for
August 6. A walkthrough with the Fire Marshall is scheduled for
August 5. Fencing of play areas should commence very soon.
More landscaping has been done with most
of the shrubs around the building in place and several of the trees
planted on site. Work is underway on readying site lighting poles.
The balance of the concrete in front of the building has now been
poured. Most of the carpet is installed in the west wing and most
finish painting is complete in that area. Millwork installation
is underway in the center wing with most of it installed in the
administrative area and bookshelves are being installed in the media
center. Much of the finish painting has also been completed in this
wing and in the gymnasium. Ceramic wall tile is now completed in
the kitchen, which will allow setting of the final pieces of kitchen
equipment. Dining room floors are being cleaned and ready for turnover
so that the area can be protected and used as an assembly area for
furniture. The same is true of the art room, which is nearly complete
and will be punched and ready for assembly of furniture. Most millwork
has been set in the east wing and plumbers are still involved in
installing their work in this wing. Rollup and sliding doors are
also being installed in the east wing. Most ceiling tile has been
dropped and the majority of the vinyl flooring has been installed,
although some remains to be completed on the second floor. Elevator
work is one day from completion and the elevator inspection has
been scheduled for August 2. Work continues on electrical and low
voltage wiring throughout the building although primarily in the
center and east wings.
Most concrete work is complete with the
exception of a very small portion in front of the building slated
for replacement. Landscaping is underway. Pea gravel and sand around
the play equipment has now been installed. Roof edge trim detail
and soffit work are underway on the perimeter of the building. HVAC
units are up and operating. Ceiling tile is being dropped in the
west wing with most of it complete. Carpet installation is scheduled
to start in the west wing next week and finish painting is also
underway in that wing. All doors have been hung in the west wing,
the first floor of the east wing, and in most of the center section
of the building. Sliding doors and roll-up door installation has
also started on the first floor of the east and west wings. Vinyl
tile work is now underway on the second floor. Furniture is being
delivered to the warehouse, and in the next week, furniture assembly
should be underway. Elevator work is now scheduled to be completed
next week. Lights are being installed both floors of the east wing
and in the gym. Painting is underway in the gym. Millwork and plumbing
continues to be installed on both floors of the east wing and is
nearing completion in the west wing.
The site work continues with most of the
play structures installed. Some of the sidewalk gaps have now been
poured and concrete work for the play structures is underway. Site
prep and seeding is nearly complete now in the northeast corner
of the site. Plumbers have started installing sinks and fixtures
in the west wing and have some of the fixtures set for the main
restroom on the first floor. Installation of cubbies and window
trim on the west wing is well underway. Some installation of millwork
has started on the first floor of the east wing and in selected
areas in the center section. Tile is complete in the west wing and
is being laid in the east wing starting at the east end and working
toward the center. Some floor leveling is underway in the dining
area and tile work in that area is expected to start yet this week.
The chillers and air handlers have been started and are being tweaked,
but generally they are able to keep the building temperature under
control. As soon as the humidity is under control, ceiling tile
will start to be dropped in place. Most electrical fixtures for
the west wing are in place, as well as a good share of those on
the first floor of the east wing. Doors are now being hung in the
west wing. Painting is happening in selected areas as they become
available. Much of the elevator work is complete and it is expected
be finished next week. Toilet partitions have been installed in
the first floor restrooms in both wings, but that work remains to
be done on the second floor of the east wing. Site work at Walnut
Creek has been completed with the exception of the seeding.
