Improved weather has allowed the roofers to be on site most
of the week. The east wing is now in the dry, and the west
wing is expected to be complete by the end of the day, Monday,
February 16, leaving only the roof over the mechanical room
and administrative area to be completed. Rough in work continues
on the inside and sheet rock work is expected to start later
next week, as larger areas become dry. Most of the inside
burnished block has been set, although there are still a few
piers to be completed in the general music room. Floors have
been poured now in the staff work room and general music room.
Duct work continues, with the first floor of the east and
west wings close to completion. The central stairway has been
set, as has the east stairway, and work is currently underway
on the stairway to the mechanical mezzanine. The block masonry
work on the exterior is now complete on the south side of
the west wing and the crews have now moved to the north side
of that wing. A few windows have been installed, as that work
follows the masons. Plumbing and electrical work continue
on schedule.
Inclement weather continues to delay the completion of the
roof and no progress was made this week. The plan is to have
a double crew on alert to begin again whenever the weather
is acceptable. There are, however, large areas of the building
that are dry and a significant amount of work is being accomplished
in those areas. Virtually all of the burnished block work
inside is complete and exterior block work continues in small
protected areas, with the west end of the building being worked
on at this time. Most of the wall framing is complete in the
building. There are two areas where the floor has not been
poured (a staff work room area and the general music room).
Concrete in both of these areas should be placed next week.
A significant amount of duct work has been installed in the
west wing and sheet rock activities have started in small
areas of the center wing. The stairs have arrived and are
currently being installed. Plumbing and electrical work continue
on schedule.
