Construction on the addition and remodel of Fairmeadows Elementary School, 807-23rd Street in West Des Moines, began in June 2005 and was completed during the summer of 2006.

Fairmeadows Elementary re-opened in the Fall of 2006.

During the 2005-2006 school year, Fairmeadows second through sixth grade students were housed at the former Clegg Park Elementary School located at 1020-8th Street in West Des Moines. The school will be known as Fairmeadows East. Kindergarten and first grade students attended classes at Western Hills Elementary School located at 600-39th Street in West Des Moines.
