Clive Construction - October 2004

Update through October 15, 2004

Exterior masonry on the south addition should be complete very soon. Iron workers have started laying the roof deck for the south addition and working on the supports for the mechanical plenum that runs over a portion of the existing building. Most door frames and window frames are now on site. Scaffolding for exterior masonry is in place for a portion of the existing building and connection to the new northwest section. The goal is to have all the roof deck on the south addition and the mechanical plenum framed within the next week so that steel work can start to support the second floor of the northwest addition. Under floor plumbing lines are complete in the Mechanical Room area of the northwest addition. All block work is complete for the elevator shaft and stair tower for the northwest addition. Issues regarding delivery of a few miscellaneous steel items and some iron work manpower issues have slowed the pace from what was expected this week. Both issues are being resolved.

Update through October 7, 2004

Masonry work is now focused on the elevator shaft and stair tower for the northwest addition. The hole has been cut for the corridor from the existing entrance to the new north addition and most of the block work on the existing building has been completed. Work continues on the mechanical plenum with structural supports being installed. Under floor plumbing in the northwest addition is underway and some additional walls for the connection to the existing building on the south are in the process of being framed and poured. Switch gear has been moved to the electrical room. Most of the work in the last week has focused on the north addition.

Update through October 1, 2004

All steel roof joists for the south addition have been set. The steel deck has been set in piles on the roof, but not distributed. It should be installed next week. Split-faced block skin for the south addition is complete on the west side and approximately half done on the south side. Brick face for the east side should commence next week. Framing for the roof mechanical plenum will also start next week, as most of the demolition needed prior to that activity is now complete. Interior block work on the north addition is underway, as well as on the connection of the new north addition to the existing entry. Footing pads for the north addition are now poured. All steel is on site and switch gear has been delivered and is scheduled to be installed the week of October 4. Resolution has been reached with regard to site configuration and the redesign will be complete early the week of October 4. That will move the south parking lot closer to the street and modify the northwest turnaround. These changes were necessary in order to maximize the green play space on the east side of the creek. The west side of the creek will be utilized for learning functions; however, it will not be a play field at this time.
