Progress has been slow due to the holiday break and also
because windows have not arrived as scheduled. Some duct
work continues and new electrical service has been brought
to the building and a new transformer set. Work continues
on the mechanical and electrical revisions in the mechanical
room. The majority of the south wall of the north addition
has been placed. Masonry is being scrubbed and cleaned and
scaffolding is being removed. Backfill between the east end
of the north addition and the new building is completed and
the foundations for that area have been poured. Also, foundations
for the stair tower on the west end of the north addition
have been poured, as well as the floor slab for the mechanical
room on the first floor. It is doubtful that the south parking
lot will get placed before Spring.
Duct work continues on the south addition.
Roofing is being applied to the mechanical plenum and front
entry. Mechanical plenum is now enclosed with plastic to allow
work in inclement weather. The majority of the floor deck
for the second floor of the north addition has been poured.
There is still some steel and decking to be installed on the
far west end. Masonry for the second floor walls on the north
addition is in process. Backfill around the majority of the
north addition has been completed. Work has started on sections
of the firstt floor on the north addition. Work is underway
on the new electrical service and the connection to the existing
switch gear.
The roof has been installed on the south
addition and duct work has started in that area. Windows are
scheduled to arrive mid-November. A portion of deck for the
second floor of the north addition has been poured. The majority
of steel for that floor has been installed and metal deck
placed. Mechanical plenum has been framed and metal deck has
been applied. Roofing will go on that area later next week.
The entryway has been re-roofed. Masons have started laying
block for the second floor walls on the north addition. South
parking lot grading is complete and now ready for paving,
hopefully before winter sets in. Electric switch gear is now
set in place and electricians are working on making connections.
Existing boilers have been re-fired to keep a minimum level
of heat in the building. Underground walls for the north addition
have been waterproofed and backfilling has started.
Wet weather and defective steel have
slowed the progress a bit, but all is now back on track. The
south parking lot is scheduled to be graded and the relocating
of any necessary utilities will also be done – the goal
to have it paved before the asphalt plants close down for
the winter. All roof deck is on the south addition and roofing
has started with approximately half of the roof to be dried
in today and the balance by Monday. Roofers will then move
to the main entrance area. Framing for the mechanical plenum
has started with the expectation that it will be available
for the roofers later next week. Framing and decking for the
second floor of the northwest addition is about 50% complete.
The first pour on that level is scheduled for early next week
with the second and final pour scheduled for late next week,
weather permitting. Masons have most of the finish material
on the first floor of the northwest addition, as well as the
southerly connection of that addition to the existing building.
Windows for the south addition are scheduled to arrive mid-November.
