With the good weather this week, the job site is buzzing.
Blocking and re-roofing are underway in the Media Center.
Steel is being erected for the roof on the south half of
the north addition. Interior block walls on the east end
of the north addition are being laid. The construction of
the north wall of the north addition is also underway. Finish
masonry for the west end of the north addition is being placed.
The east third of the floor slab for the north addition is
now in place. The balance of steel for support of the west
end second floor of the north addition is in place. Plumbing,
electrical and mechanical work inside the existing building
continues. Sheet rock for room dividing walls in the south
addition has been hung and the electrical wire and switches
in those walls have been placed.
Work continues on the interior block walls of the north
addition with walls for the art room set. Work will continue
in that area next week. Steel is scheduled to start being
set in some interior areas and along the south half of the
north addition next week. Rough grading in the lower level
is near completion and under floor plumbing in that area
is underway. Some of the first floor slab may be poured late
in the week of December 20 or early the following week. Re-roofing
continues over portions of the existing building. Foundations
for the vestibule at the northeast entrance to the gym have
been placed. The northern most portion of the north addition
has now been backfilled.
Door frames for the south addition are now being set. Heat
is being pushed into this area so that drywall work can commence.
Work is underway on the sprinkler lines and duct work with
most of the basic lines and duct work now installed in the
mechanical plenum. Electrical work continues in the upper
mechanical room. The second floor slab over the mechanical
room has now been poured. Block work is underway on the second
floor interior walls of the north side of the art room. The
area where additional soil will be placed against the existing
gymnasium has been reinforced and waterproofed and backfill
is now ready to take place. Heat is now being pumped into
the lower level of the north addition to dry it out so that
further under floor plumbing can take place in the next couple
of weeks. Block for the stairwell at the west end of the
north addition is now complete up to the second level. Some
rough grading has been done around the north addition to
smooth out deep ruts. New roof has been placed over the old
mechanical room and old music room. As weather permits, roofers
will be moving to the area over the Media Center.
Windows are now in the south addition. Door frames should
be installed early next week and heat from the corridor should
keep the area warm enough now that it is dried in to proceed
with addition framing and drywall work in this wing. The
air handling unit has been set and steel is now being installed
to finish closing that area so that the second floor slab
over that area can be poured next week. Block work for the
first level stairwell at the west end of the north section
is now complete and the steel should be set in this area
next week to allow for decking and pouring of the balance
of the second floor deck. Foundation walls and under floor
plumbing work are underway in the connection between the
existing building and the north section. Electrical work
continues in the building. Sprinkler piping is on site and
installation should start soon.
