2009 Summer Programs

SNEAK PEEK

For students entering kindergarten this fall!

This week-long program gives our youngest students an opportunity to learn about going to school and being in a district kindergarten room. Children attend daily morning sessions and experience fun activities that will help them transition into kindergarten. Sneak Peek is offered at five elementary schools during the month of July. WDMCSD families will have first priority.

Please note you may choose any site that works for you and are not restricted to your child’s home school.

Registration & Payment

Registration for WDMCS District students begins at 8:00 am on April 20, 2009. There are two ways to register:

In person at the West Des Moines Community Education office in the Learning Resource Center, 3550 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines, IA.
By phone – Call 633-5001

Priority will be given to West Des Moines Community School District students. Out of district registration will begin on May 11, 2009.

You will need to provide your child’s name, birth date, t-shirt size and school that they will be attending in the fall. Also, be prepared to know which session you want and any alternate sites that are acceptable if your first choice isn’t available. Please have payment information ready when you register.

Information
Some programs have different registration procedures. Please read each program's instructions carefully and call 633-5001 with any questions.

Pre-registration and pre-payment required! Please complete a separate registration form for each child. Family or group registrations are NOT accepted on the same form.

Out-of-district students

Payment Options
Personal checks, MasterCard, VISA and cash are all accepted. If paying in cash, you must pay in person at the Community Education office during office hours.

Scholarships
Funds, based on financial need, are available to assist WDMCSD students with tuition for most classes. Priority is given to those taking refresher courses. Students must live within WDMCSD boundaries. Call (515) 633-5001 for details.

Refunds
An $8 charge is deducted from all refunds, except classes cancelled by Community Education and those listed below. Refund requests must be made before the second class session.

Photo Release
If you prefer that your child is not photographed during summer programs, check the appropriate box on the registration form. These photographs may be used in Community Education and district publications and the website, as well as in the local media and newspapers. When photos are used on the website, the child’s name WILL NOT be included.
