fire, police, teachers, counselors and human services
• Difficult for city staff to serve those whose language
they don’t understand
• Growth creates needs that exceed resources
• New residents from other nations
and undocumented new residents have minimal housing opportunities
• Language barrier and documentation issues limit access
to services
• Maintain commitment to West Des Moines
“east side”
