Activities and Entertainment (30 Responses)

• Need “cool” activities that will draw teens
• Keep teens busy with helping at camps and doing community service
• Offer activities for kids not involved in school functions
• Offer reasonably priced activities
• Create city and school outreach partnership at Valley High School (after school, easy to join)
• Offer:

o More activities for seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders
o Non-competitive sports activities
o More summer programs like Planet 7
o After school and weekend activities
o Variety of adult-sponsored activities
o Things to do not connected with school
o Things for “un-niched” kids to do
o Before and after school programs for junior high students (similar to KIDS WEST)

• Grow out youth groups that are “cool” for kids to join
• Accommodate all seventh-graders in Planet 7

Facilities (15 Responses)

• Need teen/student community center
• Have role models speak to kids
• Create place for teens to hang out, dance and meet kids from other schools
• Create dating center for teens
• Create faith-based or ecumenical place free from drugs and alcohol
• Create safe place where kids want to go and parents are comfortable with
• Provide transportation to and from teen center
• Find vacant lots or a place for kids to congregate informally

Inclusion and Support (5 Responses)

• Get teens involved in decision making
• Focus on real problems of adolescents
• Listen to students, give more respect, treat as adults so youth will feel valued by adults
