Character Building
- Encourage more family time
- Schedule one family night/no scheduled activities/recognized
by the entire community
- Teach our children to care
- Encourage good balance between work and play
- Need people to take responsibility for actions
(self and family)
- Address growing lack of respect for each other
- Re-teach values to our youth
- Address problem of everyone being too overscheduled
(focus on family being eliminated)
- Help parents focus on the right issues to develop
character in their children
- Have gratitude for what we have and willingness
to share
- Learn to be honest, fair, caring, respectful,
more considerate, less self-centered
- Maintain Midwest work ethic
- Promote healthy lifestyles
- Slow down to speak from the heart
- Take responsibility for actions – especially
our young people
- Be cautious of “out with the old”
mentality at election time (need solid governance)
- Don’t overlook the individual in order
to promote big business
- Moral decay and breakdown of family are problems
- County, community, families have lost sight
of values
- Need to know where we stand with what’s
right for kids
- Need balance between work and personal life
- Too much emphasis on competition/trophy
- Need sports to be FUN
- Let kids be kids
- Parents live through their children, push sports,
pressure kids to overachieve
- Adults make sports too intense
- Kids need more supervision
