To ensure the safe arrival and departure of your child, you
must sign him or her in and out each day on the weekly attendance
sheet. This sheet is located on a table as you enter the KIDS
WEST site. Important information for you and your child is
available at the attendance table or information file. Please
check regularly for weekly calendars, special events information
and any changes in the field trip schedule.
If your child will not be attending KIDS WEST as scheduled,
please call the site’s cell phone after 6:15 a.m. Because
of field trip schedules, plan to have your child in attendance
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure to read posted notices regarding
early departure or late return times of some field trips.
If your child must leave KIDS WEST during the above hours
for any reason, you must coordinate your child’s return
schedule with the KIDS WEST field trip schedules. Please be
aware that field trip schedules are subject to change or delay.
Nutrition Services is closed during the summer, so please
send a sack lunch to KIDS WEST each day with your child’s
name marked on the outside. A lunch beverage will be served.
A light breakfast and afternoon snack will be served daily.
A variety of field trips are scheduled each week. All field
trips are carefullyplanned and well-supervised.
Children will be transported on a West Des Moines Community
School District bus, driven by a trained driver who meets
school transportation requirements. There are no additional
fees for field trips, with the exception of the Adventureland
trip the week of June 15. Any other additional cost would
be treat money (optional) for your child when suggested by
KIDS WEST.
All children registered for KIDS WEST Summer
Day Camp are required to go on the daily field trip assigned
to their group. If you do not wish your child to attend a
field trip, it is your responsibility to make other arrangements
for your child. KIDS WEST staff members are not able to stay
behind as they are needed to supervise on the field trip.
Swimming lessons at Walnut Creek YMCA, 948 - 73rd St., are
available to KIDS WEST participants, with limited space. You must register with
KIDS WEST.
SAIL will be held at Jordan
Creek Elementary. If you would like for your child to participate
in SAIL classes, please enroll
him/her at Jordan Creek or make your own arrangements for
transportation.
Your child should dress appropriately for active indoor and
outdoor activities, crafts and games. Comfortable, casual
play clothes and shoes are ideal. We recommend sunscreen,
insect repellant and a change of clothing which may be kept
at the site. The KIDS WEST staff will assist participants
with application of sunscreen and insect repellant if needed.
Please mark all personal items with your child’s name.
KIDS WEST cannot be responsible for missing items.
