The Emergency Plan
The Emergency Plan is located in every room that is regularly
occupied by an adult and/or student, and provides procedures
and information for anyone using district facilities. The
Emergency Plan provides the user step-by-step instructions
to follow in the event of a situation of natural or man-made
disaster. The events include fire, explosion, tornado,
bomb threat, lockdown, clear the halls and shelter-in-place.
Homeland
Security Alert System
Each facility in the WDMCS reviews its Emergency Plan yearly
with its staff. Each facility has a site coordinator
(i.e., building principal, staff member) and a Crisis/Emergency
Team. Staff training includes updates of the plan that may
be specific to a facility, as well as discussion and drill
opportunities.
Each facility follows procedures for Fire and Tornado Drills
that involve the entire staff and students of the site. Additional
safety training does occur on an as-needed basis, addressing
various other emergency and/or general safety situations.
Each facility has a Safety Committee that addresses the safety
concerns of the site. This committee generally meets
once a month.
