Technology

West Des Moines Community Schools strives to create a technology-rich environment for our entire learning community. The district’s commitment to technology is long-standing and deep: It has been a state and national leader in making a wide range of technologies available to students, staff and other learners.

Infrastructure

In order to provide cost effective and reliable services, the district utilizes a fiber optic wide area network that connects all district facilities. The creation of this network was created through WestNET, a cooperative partnership between the West Des Moines Schools, City of West Des Moines, City of Clive, City of Urbandale, and the Iowa Communications Network.

Communications Technologies

  • Through the use of Infinite Campus, the district provides students and families with live access to grades, attendance, and other student information.
  • In addition, Infinite Campus also has a phone notification system, which places automated phone calls to parents for weather related notifications.
  • The district is also using several social media sites.
