Operations, Maintenance and Custodial Services
The WDMCS Operations department provides maintenance and custodial services for more than 1.5 million square feet of space, including more than 500 classrooms.
It also provides services that support the delivery of education to our students. For example, our warehouse completed 640 work orders in one year, including storing and transferring science materials, textbooks, and food supplies.
The district was the recipient of two Iowa Governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards, one for “Overall Environmental Excellence” and the other for “Special Recognition in Waste Management.”
Sustainable Buildings Programs
Through funding provided by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and Region 7 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Operations department has two unique programs that focus on minimizing the environmental impact of school operations: the Solid Waste Program and the Integrated Pest Management program.
