Valley Students Present Check to John Stoddard Cancer Center

John Stoddard

Kim Johnson, a member of the Board of Directors for the John Stoddard Cancer Center, and Carma Herring, executive director, accept a donation of $5,625 from Valley Student Government representatives Emily Fisher and Roshan Abid. Student Government made the donation in memory of a beloved teacher, Sue Wall, who passed away recently.

Valley Student Government presented a check for $5,625 to representatives from the John Stoddard Cancer Center this afternoon. The money was raised at a Dance Marathon on Feb. 24-25 and was donated in memory of Suzanne Wall, a beloved teacher who passed away recently.

Suzanne M. Wall taught special education in the West Des Moines Community School District for six years both as a teacher to students and a mentor to professional staff. Suzanne helped found a new specialized program for individuals with special needs at Valley High School, which continues to this day.  An active member of her church, Suzanne continued to inspire and educate others as a lector and religious education instructor.  Suzanne instilled a deep love of education in her students and brought joy to all who knew her.  Sadly Suzanne passed away February 19, 2012, after a battle with ovarian cancer.
