Stranger Danger: Incident Near 68th Street and Reite Ave., Windsor Heights

The following information was provided to us this morning from the Windsor Heights Police Department:

On August 29, 2013 at approximately 8:30pm, a juvenile female was approached in the area of 68th and Reite in Windsor Heights by a stranger in a pickup.

The victim stated that the stranger drove by her twice, then stopped and told her to get in the truck. The victim ran away and called 911. The Windsor Heights Police Department had officers in the area and the victim was picked up by a police officer just two blocks from where she started running.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. The victim described the truck as an older red pickup with loud exhaust. She described the driver as an older white male with a white beard and white hair.

Police are on alert around the Des Moines area looking for this subject.

Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about safety practices. If you are out walking try to be in a group. If you see anything suspicious call 911.
