Hearing on Instructional Support Levy Aug. 12

On Monday, August 12, the West Des Moines Community Schools Board of Education will hold a public hearing on its Instructional Support Program or levy.

The Instructional Support Program was established by the Iowa Legislature in 1990 and was designed to provide school districts with additional opportunities for enrichment and innovative instructional programs. Revenue from the Instructional Support levy is designated for general fund expenditures related to the instructional program.

At its July 8, 2013 meeting, the board initiated the process to renew and continue the Instructional
Support Program in the district for the five year period beginning on July 1, 2016 by adopting the
Resolution To Consider Continued Participation In The Instructional Support Program.

The Instructional Support Program will generate $4,660,325 of revenue in the general fund for
the 2013-2014 school year.
