|BOUNDARY COMMITTEE REVIEWING FEEDBACKThe WDMCS Boundary Committee meets November 17 at 7 p.m. at the Learning Resource Center to review feedback from the recent public forums and survey to provide a recommendation to the district superintendency for changes to the district’s attendance boundaries. It will also consider a recommendation regarding a proposed grandfather clause to the school attendance boundary change options. The committee meeting is open to observers.|
|2015-16 TIGER CUBS PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION NOW OPENTiger Cubs is the West Des Moines Community School district’s preschool program. Tiger Cubs provides opportunities for children to develop important learning skills. Tiger Cubs Preschools offer three and four-year-old programs and are located at Clive, Crestview, Jordan Creek and Westridge Elementary schools. Western Hills offers a four-year-old program. |GET YOUR FLU SHOT – CLINIC AT CRESTVIEW NOV. 20The Polk County Health Department is sponsoring a community flu clinic at Crestview Elementary on Thurs., Nov. 20 from 3-7 p.m. This clinic is open to students, staff and families of West Des Moines Community Schools. It is also open to the community, so please invite family, friends and neighbors! Most insurances are accepted, so please bring your insurance card with you. Flu shots will be $20 without proof of insurance. Some students may qualify for a free vaccine. Please call 515-286-3798 with any questions regarding insurance and/or free vaccine eligibility.|
|BOARD HIGHLIGHTS FROM NOV. 10School Board Approves Contract for Operations ReviewAt its November 10 meeting, the West Des Moines Community Schools Board of Education approved a contract with Services Management Assist, LLC (SMA) to conduct an inventory of all the district’s buildings and grounds, interview key stakeholders, identify the level of cleanliness in the district according to standards published by the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International, assess the operating structure, and develop written custodial schedules for each building. The review will occur during the next couple of months.|
|WDMCS NAMED COLLEGE BOARD HONOR ROLL DISTRICTThe West Des Moines Community School District is among 12 Iowa districts – just two of which are from the metro area – to be named to the College Board’s 5th Annual Honor Roll Districts. This is the second consecutive year the WDMCS has earned this honor, demonstrating equity and excellence in its Advanced Placement programming.|
